Furuno Searchlight Scanning Sonar
Furuno Searchlight Scanning Sonar
Have you ever wished that you could make the water transparent enough to see the fish and bottom for a couple thousand feet in any direction? The FURUNO CH-250 ($13,995) just happens to scan such a vast area. The operator can adjust the tilt angle of the sound dome to scan from near-horizontal to straight down and look at any part of a huge, underwater hemisphere around the boat. When the sound dome is fully tilted, its scanning pattern shifts from horizontal to vertical. It can then scan any part of a narrow slice of water that extends from straight ahead of the boat to straight behind it. The dome can then be rotated to scan a similar fan-shaped slice of water at any angle to the boat's centerline. The CH-250 can display horizontal or vertical scan results or combinations of the two. It can also show the boat's track when interfaced with a navigation unit.
Available in 60, 88 or 150 kHz, the CH-250 offers 15 range scales from 40 to 3,500 feet in circle scan mode and from 30 to 2,000 feet in vertical-fan scan mode. A high-resolution color TFT LCD screen comes standard, but a CH-250BB "black box" version ($12,995) lets you connect to your own display.
