Interlace vs Progressive Scan: What's the Difference?

This prevents flickering, but it also causes a less sharp image. On the other hand, progressive scanning gives you more lines of the image, almost twice as many, so that there is less to compensate for. That's why it makes a sharper, free picture with finer details.
